About this collection
Public water in California is regulated and monitored by the State Water Board, though older building plumbing can still affect what reaches the tap. Filtration mostly improves taste, removes chlorine and replaces plastic bottles. Where a hotel draws its own water from wells, regular testing matters more.
Each of these hotels has said how it handles drinking water, from whole-house filtration to a carafe of filtered water by the bed. Only one has said how often the water is tested, which is what our criterion asks; the others are marked not yet reviewed until they say how their filters are kept up. None has shared test results with us.
